Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve long service life by minimizing corrosion of an EGR circuit component. SOLUTION: One system for providing exhaust gas recirculation in a multi- cylinder compression ignition internal combustion engine includes an EGR valve communicating with the exhaust side of the engine for selectively guiding exhaust gas to an EGR system. For purging the exhaust gas from the EGR system, charge air is guided through the engine and/or the EGR system.
