Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crankcase ventilation system for an internal combustion engine that has a two-stage charge boosting system resistant to pollution by combustion gas. SOLUTION: An intake system 5 supplies an engine 2 with air 8, which is sequentially pressurized by an upstream supercharger 18 and a downstream turbocharger 20. A crankcase evacuation system 40 draws crankcase gas 42 from a crankcase 6, and feeds it into the intake system 5 via either a first conduit 48 or a second conduit 50 in dependence on the setting of a pressure- regulated control valve 46. If the first booster stage 18 is in operation, the first conduit 48 is used to introduce the crankcase gas 42 upstream of the first booster stage 18. If the first booster stage 18 is out of operation, the second conduit 50 is used to introduce the crankcase gas 42 downstream of the first booster stage 18 and upstream of the second booster stage 20.
