EYE IMAGE DETECTION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eye image detection device capable of detecting the position of a human's eye by simple processing. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with an imaging means, a first extraction means for extracting a first eye image candidate directly from image data by scanning a template for extracting the eye image on the image data acquired from the imaging means, a second extraction means for extracting a second eye image candidate existing in a prescribed range from the first eye image candidate, and a determination means for determining whether the second eye image candidate is the eye image forming a pair with the first eye image candidate in a face or not. The second eye image candidate is sought in a prescribed limited range relative to the first eye image candidate directly extracted from on the image data, and it is determined whether the first eye image candidate and the second eye image candidate have a relation forming a pair in the human's face or not, to thereby decide that the first and the second eye image candidates correspond the pair of the eyes.
