Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent port designation applied to peripheral equipment from being changed contrary to the intension of a user in re-booting a USB interface. SOLUTION: In re-booting a USB interface, a USB port driver compares the USB-vender ID and USB-product ID and USB-device ID of peripheral equipment connected in the past and the connection path information with the information of peripheral equipment which is being connected at present. When the information of the equipment being connected match the information of the equipment connected in the past the USB port driver applies the port designation which is the same as the port designation applied in the past to the peripheral equipment. When both pieces of information do not match the USB port driver newly generates a port designation, and stores the connection path information and the generated port designation with the USB-vender ID, USB- product ID and USB-device ID of the peripheral equipment which is being connected at present in the storage device of a host computer.
