SOLUTION: The evaporator is constituted of a column body 1, an evaporation pipe group 2 arranged at the central part of the column body so as to leave a lower space S, upper and lower demisters 52 and 51 provided to the lateral spaces Ss on both sides of the evaporation pipe group, drip-proof plates 4 covering the intervals P between the inlets of upper spaces so as to leave gaps (d) or the like and the flow velosity of evaporated vapor entering the upper demister 52 is almost reduced to the half of that of the evaporated vapor entering the lower demister 51. The evaporator can be miniaturized while keeping mist removing action to be reduced in cost by providing the demisters up and down and ensuring mist removing capacity even at the upper demister part approaching an evaporation part.
