Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode ray tube lamp with minimized power consumption and a liquid crystal display device using the same. SOLUTION: The lamp comprises two electrodes 222 and 224: one is located inside a lamp tube 212, and the other is formed on the outer surface of the lamp tube, and the lamp tube which discharge gas 214 is inserted into and a fluorescent layer 216 is formed on. This greatly reduces power consumption of the cold cathode ray tube lamp necessary for generating light, and thus greatly reduces nonuniformity in the luminance of a plurality of the lamps.
