Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-plane magnetic recording medium having a high medium S/N and sufficiently stable against the thermal perturbation, and to provide a magnetic storage device having a surface recording density of ≥50 Mbit/mm2and a high reliability, by optimizing the recording/reproducing condition by the combination with a magnetic head having a high sensitivity. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate though a plurality of base layers. At least one of the base layers has the main component of Cr and consists of an alloy of body-centered cubic structure having B of 2 at.% or more and 12 at.% or less. The magnetic layer has the main component of Co, and includes Cr of 10 at.% or more and 16 at.% or less. The magnetic recording medium includes a lower magnetic layer having the thickness of 1.5 nm or more and 4.5 nm or less and an upper magnetic layer having the main component of Co which is antiferromagnetically coupled therewith through the nonmagnetic intermediate layer. The magnetic storage device includes the magnetic recording medium, a driving part which drives this in the recording direction, a composite head which has both of a recording electromagnetic induction type magnetic head and a reproducing spin valve type magnetic head, a means for relatively moving the head with respect to the medium, and a head recording/reproducing signal processing means.
