NEGATIVE ELECTRODE FOR NICKEL HYDROGEN STORAGE BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a nickel hydrogen storage battery wherein elevation of the inner resistance of the negative electrode can be suppressed while elevation of the inner pressure is suppressed. SOLUTION: The negative electrode for the nickel hydrogen storage battery is given with fine particles 25 having a catalyst ability for occlusion and discharge of hydrogen added to a surface 21 of a hydrogen occlusion alloy 20 which is to be a negative electrode active substance and having water repellency. For example, as for the fine particles, that is nominated in which a nickel layer is formed on a surface of particles of fluorine-series resin such as PTFE or the like is given, and its particle size is preferably 1 μm to 300 μm, and the thickness of the nickel layer is preferably 0.1 to 50 nm.
