PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer, a method for selecting a job storage format, a method for altering a job storage format, a storage medium and a program in which resources in the printer are available effectively while satisfying versatile requests of a user and the work efficiency can be set freely and enhanced at the time of printing a stored job depending on the use environment of the user. SOLUTION: The printer comprises means 201 for receiving a job from a host unit, means 210 for storing a received job, means 202 for analyzing a job in the job storing means 210, means 203 for developing an analyzed job, means 204 for printing out a developed job, and job handling means 209 performing control of selecting a job storage format for the job storing means 210 among a plurality of storage formats based on configuration information.
