Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for enabling program blocking, which provides advantages over conventional parental control. SOLUTION: According to an exemplary embodiment, a user can designate the title of a program to be blocked with a system such as a television signal receiver. The program blocking is performed by preventing display of a video portion of the program, and further by preventing display of the program title in a prescribed display region such as an electronic program guide and/or a channel banner. An audio portion of the program may also be blocked. The user can remove the program blocking function by e.g. inputting a predetermined password.
