METHOD FOR CORRECTING DEFORMATION OF CYLINDRICAL WATER- COOLED CRUCIBLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correcting deformation of a cylindrical water- cooled crucible capable of correcting deformation accompanying repeated use of a cylindrical water-cooled crucible such as a consumer electrode type arc melting furnace or the like to substantially close to conditions before use and also capable of easily performing corrections without familiarizing special skill. SOLUTION: (1) This method for correcting deformation of the cylindrical water-cooled crucible is characterized in that a cross sectional deformation and/or lengthy deformation of the crucible can be corrected by press-fitting a punch whose maximum diameter is substantially equivalent to the inner diameter of the crucible from the opening end, supporting the upper or lower end or both ends of the cylindrical water-cooled crucible that is an object to be corrected. (2) When a punch whose maximum diameter is substantially equivalent to the inner diameter of the crucible is press-fitted from one of opening ends of the cylindrical water-cooled crucible to correct deformation, the method for correcting deformation of the cylindrical water-cooled crucible can adopt either one of the following three methods: a punching method, a drawing method and a both ends fixing method.
