PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably transfer articles so that not only the articles of the same size but also the articles of different size of the required number can be easily boxed. SOLUTION: A long article B is carried with a longitudinal side Bc thereof as a carrying direction by a carrying conveyor 2 (V1) by an article group in a multi-stage stacking condition of at least upper and lower two-stage stacking condition, or at least two rows condition, and carried to the boxing position E2 via a first rail R1 by holding the long article by a pair of holding plates 6A and 6B which are fitted to the first rail R1 disposed along the carrying conveyor 2 to hold an upper surface Ba and a lower surface Bb on the short side of the long article B. An expandable member 11 to hold each long article B via a spring 15 is provided on the facing side of the holding plate 6B of the pair of holding plates 6A and 6B.
