PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing device which can obtain a good displaying image. SOLUTION: A digital clamp circuit 20 latches image data DV when a pedestal level is indicated, and converts the data DV into image data DW in response to the level at this time. A digital signal processing unit 65 compares the luminance level of the data DW of an odd field with that of the data DW of an even field, converts the data of the field having the low level into the data of the field having the high level when the level difference exceeds a predetermined level, and obtains the image data of one frame. In the case of converting the data, the data is shifted to thereby invert the phase of a carrier color signal. It can prevent the flicker of the reproduced image and the apparent loss of the luminance or the color saturation to obtain the good displaying image.
