Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a battery having sufficient mechanical strength by which, a battery with long life can be manufactured even when the temperature becomes high, and to provide a battery using the same. SOLUTION: A separator for a battery contains a methylpenten based polymer and a low melting point polymer having a melting point lower than that of the methylpenten based polymer, and the methylpenten based polymer contains a methylpenten based complex fiber which occupies less than 40% of the surface area of the methylpenten based polymer, and a fiber sheet made to stick together by the melted low melting point polymer of the methylpenten based polymer. As the cell uses above separator for a cell, inside pressure of the cell does not easily increase even when the temperature becomes high, and a short-circuit is not easily generated, by the above, the life of the battery becomes long.
