Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a penetration tester capable of always making proper a proper sound signal sent from a sound detecting means and transmitted through a penetration rod. SOLUTION: This tester is provided with the sound detecting means 10 capable of detecting sound transmitted through the penetration rod 10 as the penetration rod 7 is penetrated through the ground. A sound signal detected by the sound detecting means 10 is sent to a sound processing part 12, and passed through an amplifier 13 to be amplified. At this time, the amplification gain of the amplifier 13 is adjusted according to the peripheral temperature of the sound detecting means by a gain adjusting device 14, whereby even if a sound signal (output voltage) sent from the sound detecting means 10 fluctuates due to a temperature change, this is amplified by the amplifier 13 to be corrected to a sound signal to be originally obtained.
