Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize easy access from a computer to a peripheral equipment such as a printer through a network. SOLUTION: A notification means in a printer device writes the printer's address, driver and public key in a PC card inserted therein. An authentication request means in a personal computer (PC) reads out the printer's address, driver and public key from the PC card. The authentication request means installs the driver in the PC, accesses the printer device through a network using the obtained address, informs the printer device of the PC's address, and requests authentication with a public key. An authentication means in the printer device determines if the authentication request from the PC is valid by using the public key included in the request when executing authentication.
