Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flywheel power storage device capable of safely making an emergency stop of the flywheel rotating at high speed. SOLUTION: In the flywheel power storage device, a rotation shaft 14 of a flywheel 13 is supported by a bearing provided in a casing 11. By rotating the flywheel 13 at high speed in the casing 11, electrical energy is converted into kinetic energy to be stored. When required, the kinetic energy is reconverted into electrical energy to be taken out. The flywheel power storage device is provided with a vibration detection means 15 for detecting vibrations of the casing, a temperature detecting means 16 for detecting temperature of the bearing, and a container 19 in which a braking material 18 connected with the casing 11 through the medium of the valve body 17 is filled. When either of the vibration detecting means 15 or the temperature detection means 16 emits a signal indicating excess of the prescribed value, the valve element 17 is opened to lead the braking material 18 in the casing 11, therefore safely making an emergency stop.
