ARTICLE STORAGE DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article storage device capable of allocating each storage area to each storing/retrieving area in such a way that articles are allocated preferentially to those storing/retrieving areas where articles are stored and retrieved in larger numbers, for increasing the efficiency of conveyance between each of the storing/retrieving areas where articles are stored and retrieved in larger numbers and each storage area. SOLUTION: The article storage device includes first and second storage racks 21 and 22 each having a plurality of cassettes 24 for storing articles and having respective first and second storing/retrieving stations 25 and 26 for storing and retrieving the articles; first and second stacker cranes 32 and 33 for conveying the articles between each cassette 24 and each of the storing/ retrieving stations 25 and 26; and a control part 34 which allocates each cassette to each storing/retrieving station in such a way that the articles are allocated preferentially to the storing/retrieving stations where the articles are stored and retrieved in larger numbers, for increasing the efficiency of conveyance between each of the storing/retrieving stations where the articles are stored and retrieved in larger numbers and each cassette.
