Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for determining an appropriate operational period of calibration. SOLUTION: A computer peripheral 101 connected with a network 113 is instructed to access one or a plurality of servers 115 and acquiring a time stamp 119. An elapsed time is then calculated using a time stamp thus acquired. If the elapsed time thus calculated is shorter than a threshold value specified previously or determined dynamically, the peripheral 101 is instructed to omit calibration works being carried out by other methods (e.g. restart through power supply surge).
