PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make and transmit a Japanese composition even from a terminal having no input-output function of Japanese. SOLUTION: An alphabet character string inputted on a WEB page is converted into a Japanese character string by a character string converting part 400b of a server, and a character string image of respective candidates is made by a character string image making part 400d from an image of respective characters in the respective candidates retrieved by a character image retrieving part 400c. Since this image is sent back from the server, an English character can be inputted, and only if it is a client capable of displaying the image, a conversion candidate for an inputted character string can be displayed by receiving from the sever. The server successively stores a character code string whose image is selected by the client in a character string storage part 400h among the candidates, and transmits transmission indication as ordinary e-mail from a character string transmitting part 400j by receiving the transmission indication from the client.
