Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for shape-fixedly drying treatment of lumber for building capable of fixedly treating a shape of the lumber for building even at a low cost while useful characteristics intrinsically belonged to the lumber are left as they are. SOLUTION: An outer force is applied to lumber for building of a water- containing state to correct and fix the lumber. After heating treatment so that a temperature in the lumber becomes 60 to 200 deg.C by using a heating medium having a carboxylic acid as a principal ingredient in a corrected and fixed state, the lumber is dried while it is naturally cooled. A press apparatus P1 comprises a pallet 1 for placing a plurality of columnar lumbers W arranged by being lined up on via a bar, and three pairs of pressing bands 3 pinching the lumber W between the bars 2. The lumber W is pressed by pinching from above with those three pressing bands 3 to form a constitution. The lumber W is continuously made into a compressed state by an urging force of a coil spring 5. The lumber for construction is fixed by pinching in a pressed state at not less than three points of both end parts and the approximately middle part in its longitudinal direction.
