SOLUTION: The method for detecting a harmful chemical substance or natural toxic substance to destruct or disturb the homeostacy of living body comprises the preparation of a cell by introducing a promoter containing a heat shock factor boding DNA sequence and a transcriptional regulation sequence necessary for the stress induction as a transcriptional regulation factor bonding site and a reporter gene under the control of the promoter (provided that an SV40pA signal is bonded to the downstream of the reporter gene without interposing an intron) into a chromosome of the cell, the culture of the cell on a medium containing the test specimen and the determination of the protein induction activity of the reporter gene.
