Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method and device for decoding a plurality of differently encoded input signals. SOLUTION: This invention provides the device and method for decoding data words encoded according to the Huffman coding provisions of either H.261, JPEG or MPEG standards and for converting the data words into JPEG Huffman coded data word when the data words are identified to be H.261 or MPEG Huffman coded data words, and providing an output of data words corresponding to number of indices related to them.
