Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cutting device and method capable of prolonging durability of upper blade and lower blade of a chopper for cutting trimming chip by dispersing wear portions of the upper blade and lower blade of the chopper. SOLUTION: This method is for cutting trimming chip generated by trimming a side end part of a metal band by using a side trimmer. The chopper upper blade and the chopper lower blade disposed in a rotary parallel blade type chopper for cutting trimming chip are reciprocatively moved in the rotary shaft direction or are moved in the same direction.
