Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformed plant incapable of synthesizing ethylene while not affecting other aspects of its metabolism. SOLUTION: The purified protein, the DNA sequence encoding the expression, and the recombinant DNA are provided, and the host transformed therewith for a transformed coffee plant for suppressing the expression of the enzyme required for the synthesis of ethylene is also included. The DNA sequence and the recombinant DNA molecule are characterized in encoding the expression of an enzyme ACC synthase or an ACC oxidase which are elements of biosynthesis route of the ethylene in the coffee plant. The coffee plant is transformed by a vector including the ACC synthase DNA sequence and/or ACC oxidase DNA sequence encoding the expression of each mRNA which is antisense to mRNA for the respective ACC synthase and/or the ACC oxidase.
