Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gel coated seed having good establishment with sufficient strength to be handled just after preparation and after restoration from a dry storage. SOLUTION: This gel coated seed is formed by using a gel-forming liquid in which particles comprising a hydrous water absorbing polymer are dispersed and arranging the particles comprising the hydrous water absorbing polymer in a coating gel layer comprising an alginic acid-based aqueous gel. The size of the particles comprising the hydrous water absorbing polymer in the gel- forming liquid is >=0.3 mm.
