AREA-ORIENTED INFORMATION PROVIDING SYSTEM AND COMPUTER READABLE RECORDING MEDIUM WITH AREA-ORIENTED INFORMATION PROVIDING PROGRAM RECORDED THEREON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a client connected to a server with highly useful area-oriented information by displaying and notifying a variety of information such as thunder information through the Internet with a location arbitrarily selected by a user as a center. SOLUTION: An area-oriented information providing system comprises a server 2 for providing predetermined information such as disaster prevention information, thunder information and local living information, and at least one client 3 connected to the server 2 in a manner that can be communicated bi-directionally through the Internet to receive provided information. The client 3 is provided with a means of obtaining information from the server 2 through the Internet, a means of processing the information obtained, a means of displaying processed data and a map of the area where the client 3 is located, a means of controlling display to a map covering an area within an arbitrary radius with a location arbitrarily selected as a center, a means of determining a threshold for information data, a means of comparing the threshold with the information data to determine the level of the information, and a means of notifying of the result in a specified manner in accordance with the result of the decision.
