Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that a cylinder cutoff state is smoothly shifted to an all- cylinder operating state by employing cylinder cutoff technology for incorporation of driver's intention. SOLUTION: The invention relates to an engine control device for a hybrid vehicle that is provided with both an engine and a motor as driving sources and performs regeneration using the motor by bringing at least part of the cylinders to a cutoff state during deceleration of the vehicle. The engine control device is provided with a cylinder cutoff recovery determination means (step S174) that recovers the engine from the cylinder cutoff state when an engine speed decreases to a level equivalent to a cylinder cutoff continuation execution lower limit that serves as a reference for cylinder cutoff and a brake switch for detecting a brake when in an operated state. The cylinder cutoff recovery determination means is provided with a cylinder cutoff determination alteration means (step S182) that changes the cylinder cutoff continuation execution lower limit engine speed in accordance with whether or not the brake is operated as detected by the brake switch.
