Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quartz oscillator where its quartz substrate can be so protected effectively that a shock given from the external as fall and the like is absorbed, with respect to the quartz oscillator, where the space for its cantilever-supported type quartz substrate is restricted, corresponding to its miniaturized and thinned case. SOLUTION: In the quartz oscillator 21 there are provided a quartz substrate 2, having at both its ends a fixed-end portion 11 and a free-end portion 12; a recessed case 3 for storing the quartz substrate 2; and a cover 5 for sealing the case 3, and the fixed-end portion 11 of the quartz substrate 2 is fixed in the inside of the case 3 so as to support its other free-end portion 12 in a floating condition in the inside of the case 3. Further, in this quartz oscillator 21, shock-absorbing portions 22b, 22a are provided respectively on a bottom surface 7 of the case 3 and on the inner surface of the cover 5, which are opposed respectively to the free-end portion 12 of the quartz substrate 2.
