SOLUTION: This method for producing the pyromellitic anhydride comprises a step of catalytically oxidizing a raw material mixed gas containing a tetraalkylbenzene and/or a trialkylbenzaldehyde and a molecular oxygen gas- containing gas in the vapor phase in a fixed bed reactor having a catalyst bed.
