SOLUTION: Metallic oxide coarse powder obtained by vapor phase oxide reaction or vapor phase hydrolysis reaction of a metallic halide is brought into contact with an aqueous medium such as water and an aqueous solution of a basic substance, so that gaseous components such as gaseous halogen and gaseous hydrogen halide stuck to the coarse powder are fixed to the coarse powder.
