Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically polish a work such as glass. SOLUTION: A grinding wheel supporting frame (21) is elevatably provided to a fixed frame (1), and a feed motor (14) for elevating/lowering the grinding wheel supporting frame (21) is provided. A limit switch (L4) capable of detecting the lowered reference position of the grinding wheel supporting frame (21) and a lower end sensor (S1) capable of detecting a contact state of a grinding wheel (25) with the glass are provided so that the lower end sensor (S1) can detect the contact with the glass after the grinding wheel supporting frame (21) is lowered by the feed motor (14) and the limit switch (L4) detects the lowered reference position, and the glass is polished by the grinding wheel (25) while the lower end sensor (S1) detects the contact with the glass.
