Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the workability at the time of assembling a surface illuminator and to stabilize the assembling accuracy, moreover, to make a transparent substrate get near the display surface of an electronic product. SOLUTION: A housing frame 25 has a recessed part 28 being the positioning part of a point light source 12, a planar base part 29 being the positioning part of a light transmission body 13 and a frame-shaped base part being the positioning part of the transparent substrate 2. A necessary assembling accuracy can be obtained surely only by mounting the point-shaped light source 12, the light transmission body 13 and the transparent substrate 2 to prescribed positioning parts of the housing frame 25. A necessary strength is obtained with a reinforcing frame 32 by making the thickness D2 of the recessed part 28 and the planar base part 29 thinner than the thickness D1 of a frame forming the positioning part of the transparent substrate 2 and also by making the shape of the parts the shape opened upwards. Thus, it is made possible to arrange the transparent substrate 2 at a position close to the display surface of the electronic product at the time of building-up the surface-shaped illuminator 1 in the electronic product by making the thickness of the reinforcing frame 32 small.
