SAFETY DEVICE OF SEWING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device of a sewing machine with a compact structure and high safety and not decreasing efficiency of sewing operations. SOLUTION: A protective cover body 40 for covering a space between a finger guard body 30 fixed on a presser foot 27 and the presser foot 27 is pivoted on a sewing machine fixing base 41 so that the protective cover body 40 swings up and down. The protective cover body 40 is energized by a torsional coil spring 47 in a closing position direction where the protective cover body 40 covers rather an operator side than a needle 17a. The protective cover body 40 is retained to an opening position against energizing force of the torsional coil spring 47 by a retaining pawl 49 of a cam body 48 fixed on the protective cover body 40 being retained to a retaining part 53 of a working body 50. An arm part 59 of a rotation interlocking body 56 provided on a frame is pushed and rotated by a fixing plate 8 to be bent by start buttons 5a (6a, 7a) of a motor being pushed, and then a retained state of the protective cover body 40 is released by a protrudent part 58 of the arm part 59 pushing a wall body 55 of the working body 50.
