Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means of improving the control of the length of a fusion- ceramic joint part. SOLUTION: The high pressure discharge lamp comprises a discharging chamber (3) having a ceramic wall surrounding a discharging space (11), surrounding lead-throughs (40, 41, 50, 51) up to electrodes (4, 5) arranged in the discharging chamber with gaps, of which, end parts are sealed by protruded ceramic stoppers (34, 35) jointed to the lead-throughs, through a fusion-ceramic joint part (10) at the opposite sides of the discharging space. At least one end part located near to a side of the ceramic stoppers, which is opposite to the discharging space, does not transmits light.
