GRINDING METHOD FOR KNIFE SHAFT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding method for allowing the pairing of knife shafts on a slitter with the minimum or no adjustment and grinding with the maximum accuracy and cutting quality in relation to the accuracy. SOLUTION: The grinding method is a method for grinding a number of knives installed around the knife shaft. The grinding method comprises a first determination step of determining an algebra value for a difference between an actual pitch measured between two continuous knives and a theoretical pitch for each of different pairs of the continuous knives around the knife shaft and thereby determining a difference between a reference position equivalent to the theoretical position of the knife and each actual position of the knife and a calculation step of calculating an average algebra value for the algebra values for the differences between the actual pitch determined in the first determination step and the theoretical pitch by dividing the total of the algebra values for the differences by the sum of the pairs of continuous knives around the knife shaft.
