MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME AND MAGNETIC STORAGE DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the orientation of a magnetic film, to make fine and uniform grains in the magnetic film and to provide a magnetic recording medium having low noise. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has first base films 40, 40' directly disposed on a substrate 40 or with third base films interposed, second base films 42, 42' directly disposed on the first base films, magnetic films 43, 43' disposed thereon, and further, protective films 44, 44' disposed thereon, and has regions of clusters with a large oxygen amount distributed on the interfaces between the first base films and the second base films. The first base film is made of an alloy and preferably contains two kinds of elements having large difference in the standard free energy ΔG deg. for the production of oxides of the elements constituting the alloy at 250 deg.C.
