SOLUTION: The gas generator comprises a housing 1 of lengthy cylindrical shape with both ends closed, and a partition plate 7 demarcating the inside of the housing 1 into a gas generating chamber 2 containing a gas generating agent 4, and a filter chamber 12 having a filter member 10 mounted in. The gas generator is characterized in that the partition plate 7 is fixed to a caulking part 6 of the housing 1, with weld 30 applied to the whole circumference of the circumferential edge part of the gas chamber 2.
