PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat for a vehicle capable of smoothly moving between an initial position and a retraction position inside a narrow vehicle cabin. SOLUTION: When a seat body 20 is moved from the initial position to the retraction position, following a forward shift from the initial position, a tilting operation for standing a seat back 21 vertically is carried out by means of a controller, and subsequently, following this preparative operation, a turning operation and a retracting operation are carried out, and consequently, the seat body 20 reaches the retraction position. Even if the seat for the vehicle is divided into the seat body 20 and a headrest 14 fixed in the initial position, the headrest 13 and the seat back 21 brought into contact mutually in the initial position are separated from each other during the tilting operation because the forward shifting operation is carried out in advance of the tilting operation, and consequently, no obstruction to the tilting operation is caused. Consequently, a smooth shift between the initial position and the retraction position can be carried out inside the narrow cabin.
