WATER LEVEL MEASURING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water level measuring apparatus capable of indicating a correct water level on a water level indicating means, even if a surveying line is wound around a pulley in wrong direction. SOLUTION: The apparatus composed of a float 8 floating on the surface of water in a dam 3, river 2, etc., a main shaft 5 to be rotated through a surveying line 7 connected to the float 8 as the water level varies, a means 14 for measuring the water level from the rotation of the main shaft 5 and a means 15 for mechanically indicating the water level according to the rotation of the main shaft 5 comprises a rotating direction changing means 16 disposed between the main shaft 5 and the water level indicating means 15 for changing the rotating direction of the main shaft 5 and transferring it to water level indicating means 15. If the line 7 is wound around a pulley 6 in wrong winding direction when the water level measuring apparatus 1 is installed, the rotating direction changing means 16 disposed between the main shaft 5 and the measuring means 16 reversely rotates the main shaft 5 and inputs only this information to the level indicating means 15, thereby indicating a correct water level on the level indicating means 15.
