Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer in which a high printing speed can be attained while reducing the capacity of a power supply. SOLUTION: The thermal printer performs desired printing on a printing sheet (P) fed to a thermal head (20) through a platen (10) rotated by the driving force of a sheet feed motor (M) by supplying power selectively to a plurality of heating elements in the thermal head. The printer is provided with a control means (control circuit C) for increasing the driving current of the sheet feed motor and decreasing the current of the thermal head in case of a narrow print sheet, whereas decreasing the driving current of the sheet feed motor and increasing the current of the thermal head in case of a wide print sheet.
