Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variety of displays instead of providing one fixed display. SOLUTION: An underlying phosphor layer 21 made in a rectangular monochromic pattern is deposited over the anode 11 of a display pattern. Phosphor layers 22 made in letter patterns of phosphors of the same emission color as the underlying phosphor layer 21 are deposited within areas on the underlying phosphor layer 21. When the fluorescent display tube is turned off, the simple rectangular monochromic pattern is shown, when the tube is turned on, characters are made visible from notching and displayed three-dimensionally upon emission of light from the phosphor layers 22.
