Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation device that produces a desirable vertical damping force and facilitates adjustment of damping force. SOLUTION: The base isolation device has a floor body positioned over a structural floor to bear a base-isolated structure placed thereon, a vertical restoring means arranged between the structural floor and the floor body to generate restoring force when the base-isolated structure is displaced vertically, and a vertical damping means arranged between the structural floor and the floor body to generate damping force when the base-isolated structure is displaced vertically. The vertical damping means has a first cylinder means fixed to the floor body and extended down from the floor body, a second cylinder means fixed to the structural floor and extended up from the structural floor so as to fit on the first cylinder means, and a tightening adjusting means for adjusting tightening force between the first cylinder means and the second cylinder means fitted on each other.
