Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set composed of inks capable of preventing the bleeding of a color image in the recording on a plain paper, giving clear and uniform image with high picture quality and having improved water resistance. SOLUTION: The ink set for ink jet recording performs color image recording by using two or more inks having different colors and ejecting ink droplets against a recording object. The ink set contains two or more inks having different colors, each containing a coloring material, a liquid medium and a cationic water-based polymer and gelatinizable by lowering the pH. At least two kinds of inks having different colors have different pH levels and different gelatinizing pH values.
