Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily fit and fix a plate-like member such as a seal ring to a fitting groove formed in a shaft seal member body without any skill. SOLUTION: A caulking tool 11 comprises a pressing member 12 having a holding groove 15 with a tip part of the seal ring 2 disposed in the fitting groove 3 of the shaft seal member body 1 fitted thereto, a chisel member 14 having a chisel part 17 on its tip part and slidable to the pressing member 12, and a coil spring 16 provided between the chisel member 14 and the pressing member 12. By striking a rear end part of the chisel member 14 with the holding groove 15 fitted to the seal ring 2, this striking force is transmitted to the pressing member 12 from the chisel member 14 via the coil spring 16, the chisel member 14 is allowed to slide in the tip direction to the pressing member 12, and a chisel part 17 is allowed to bite in the shaft seal member body 1 in the vicinity of a side part of the seal ring 2 pressed by the pressing member 12, realizing the caulking.
