Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To not only ensure operations of a sensor for detecting a distance, a heat source, etc., by transmitting/receiving light (infrared rays), so as to enhance traveling performance, but also reduce costs by simplifying a structure of an outer hull, in a self-propelled cleaner whose cleaner body has a self-propelling function and which automatically cleans a surface to be cleaned. SOLUTION: Dust, which adheres onto the surface to be cleaned from a suction part 3, is taken in by an airflow for taking in the dust, which is generated by a motor fan 4; the taken-in dust is collected in a dust collection part 5; the cleaner body 1 is made to travel by a roller 11 driven by a drive motor 8; and the motor fan 4 and the drive motor 8 are powered from a power source part 6. The cleaner body 1 includes the motor fan 4, the collection part 5, the source part 6, etc., makes the outer hull 20 transparent or translucent, and includes a distance measuring sensor 9 and a step sensor 10, which optically detect the distance to an obstacle, the heat source, etc.
