SOLUTION: The multi-step forging apparatus carries works W successively to a forging die of a next step by a carrier to perform the forging. In the forging step in which burrs W1 are generated around a body part of the work W, flat parts W4 extending parallel to the pressing direction are provided on a plurality of parts of the outer periphery of the burrs W1, and the flat parts W4 are held by fingers 15 of the carrier to carry the works W to the forging die in the next step.
