SOLUTION: This device has a substrate 4 having an optical function layer 201 which displays an image by emitting or cutting off light according to an applied voltage and a frame body 3a which surrounds the substrate 4. A recessed part or projection part 6 is formed on the flank of the substrate 4 and a projection part or recessed part 7 is formed on the inner side of the flank of the frame body 3a, and the projection part is engaged in the recessed part.
