Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external storage device which can perform the functional setting of a storage device body readily and safely in the external storage device such that cable connections to an electronic device, etc., is carried out. SOLUTION: In the external storage device provided with a housing which is connected with an electronic device through a cable and houses the storage device body, a selector switch 371 to selects the functional setting of the storage device body 31 is provided to be exposed to the housing exterior. Setting of the selector switch 371 being exposed from the housing allows a user to perform the functional setting of the external storage device freely and to cancel complicatedness, such as disassembly of the external storage device, only by operating the selector switch 371. Besides, since a jumper pin 313 provided in the storage device body 31 is constituted not to be exposed, the functional setting of the storage device body 31 can be modified safely.
