Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for protective coating excellent in adhesion, transparency to visible light and capable of forming a protective coating having a high surface flatness on a substrate having an unplaned surface, exhibiting a high thermal resistance and yellowing resistance and good contamination resistance to liquid crystals and especially excellent in high temperature resistance (yellowing resistance) in vacuum evaporation of ITO in the case of using as a protective coating for a colored resin coating of a color filter for liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: This composition for protective coating includes (1) an epoxy resin having at least two functional groups in a molecule, (2) a polyphenol compound including a cyclic terpene skeleton and (3) an imidazole based hardening accelerator.
